Gloria Morales
Master of Music, Piano Performance and Pedagogy
Gloria Morales is a pianist and teacher from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where her musical training began at the Victoriano López School of Music. Her teaching career started there as well: she taught private students of many ages both at the Victoriano López and at the Conservatorio Sampedrano de las Artes before moving to the United States in 2015.
Gloria earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, cum laude, from Valdosta State University, where she studied with Dr. Lyle Indergaard and Ms. Maila Springfield. During those years she ran her own private studio and spent two consecutive summers as a pianist for the Peach State Summer Theatre, performing alongside faculty and professional musicians.
She completed her Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Ohio University under Dr. Emely Phelps and Dr. Christopher Fisher, earning a Music Leadership Certificate along the way. At Ohio, she worked as a collaborative pianist, group piano instructor for undergraduate music majors, taught private lessons at the Athens Community Music School, and trained as an apprentice piano tuner.
Most recently, Gloria spent five years on the faculty at Orpheus Academy of Music in Austin, teaching private piano students from age four through adulthood along with group musicianship classes for young musicians. She has performed in music festivals in Honduras and in masterclasses with international pianists including Ian Hobson, Orion Weiss, and Dario Ntaca, and has taught piano privately and at music academies for more than ten years.
Gloria lives in North Austin with her husband Andrés and their dog Stella, and enjoys reading and exploring coffee shops in her free time.
